UpLift Chronicles Honors Founding Reporter Shannon Yvonne Moreau

by Samantha Anne Carrillo, UpLift Chronicles Managing Editor
Our September issue marks the first UpLift Chronicles that doesn’t feature the reporting of Shannon Yvonne Moreau. Moreau began volunteering with the New Mexico Black History Organizing Committee (NMBHOC) in 2011. Her volunteer work included social media management as well as writing. In 2020, Moreau joined the New Mexico Black Leadership Council (NMBLC) as a staffer and helped launch the EQ Online blog and served as its contributing editor. She joined the editorial team for NMBLC’s UpLift Chronicles monthly community newspaper in August 2022 and has written for every issue since the publication’s launch.
Here at NMBLC, we are deeply grateful to Moreau for her willingness to share her time, talent, and treasure with us in service of our work, both as a dedicated, long-term volunteer and as a professional writer and marketer. As she moves into a new phase of her career as an author, we are taking the opportunity to shout out Moreau’s significant impact on NMBLC and its publications. Moreau’s coverage of everything from pop culture to politics has resonated with our readers, and we’ll work to make her proud by continuing to publish stories that we hope will move, touch, and inspire conversation, collaboration, and community.
